SQ Hub is a new purpose-built shared working space and incubator program for the Queensland screen and games industry. Located in office space adjacent to Screen Queensland in Newstead, the SQ Hub is designed to foster collaboration, entrepreneurialism, build the sector’s creative and business acumen and to ease the cost of overheads. Approximately 15 desks will be available in late February/early March 2018 for Queensland-based production and game development companies and individual practitioners to rent at a subsidized fee. The shared office space will offer open plan desk space, office furniture, meeting rooms, internet, electricity, kitchen access, security and wheelchair accessibility.
Hotdesks will be available for short term residencies and details will be released regarding hotdesks in the new year.
SQ Hub will also be the home to a fresh program of masterclasses, workshops and networking events open to both SQ Hub tenants and the wider Queensland screen industry.
The expression of interest process for long-term tenants will be competitive and tenants will be selected based upon the following criteria:
- Strength and Viability of proposed business plan including demonstrated benefits of tenancy at SQ Hub
- Potential impact on applicant of collaboration, creative and business development opportunities through SQ Hub
- Track record of the applicant/company and quality of slate and talent, appropriate to career stage
- Benefits for Queensland screen industry, with consideration to the overall ecosystem of the SQ Hub.
SQ welcomes EOIs from talented, ambitious and entrepreneurial Queensland companies and individuals working in the screen and game development sectors. Whether early career or established, applicants should be looking to build their creative and business acumen and strengthen their industry connections.
