Asian Animation Summit is calling for projects

Screen Queensland is partnering with the Asian Animation Summit (AAS) in a call out for projects to be presented at the 2017 AAS, a unique showcase of new children’s series seeking finance and production partners in the Asia-Pacific region. The AAS takes place in Brisbane from 29 November to 1 December.

Up to six Australian projects (represented by their creative teams) will be selected to present at the the AAS in front of a high-level audience of content-makers, distributors, investors and broadcasters from across the Asia-Pacific region.

The Asian Animation Summit – supported by hosting partners Screen Queensland and Brisbane Marketing, presenting partners KOCCA (Korea), MDeC (Malaysia), SIPA/DITP (Thailand) and supporting partner AINIKI (Indonesia) – has been the launchpad for a significant numbr of Australian animated series including Balloon Barnyard (Like A Photon Creative), Kazoops (Cheeky Little Media), and The Strange Chores and Bluey (Ludo Studio).

The AAS offers a unique opportunity for a select group of Australian creatives to showcase their work among their peers from Australia, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific, to seek coproduction partners and to pitch their work to a select group of international broadcasters and decision-makers.

Asian, European, UK and North American broadcasters and distributors come to the AAS looking for the best new projects from the region. The event has consistently proved itself to be an excellent platform for Australian producers to find investors and production partners.

The 2017 showcase will be comprised entirely of brand new animated series aimed at young audiences aged up to 15 and intended for broadcast on free-to-air, subscription television, SVOD or other internet platform.

Selected projects will be creatively exciting and able to demonstrate existing market interest.

Screen Queensland will manage the Australia-wide call out with applications closing on September 8 2017. Detailed information on eligibility and how to apply can be found here.
