SQ initiatives

SQ hub

SQ Hub is a new shared working space and incubator program to support the growth of the Queensland screen and games industry.

The SQ Hub, based in Teneriffe and adjacent to Screen Queensland, is designed to foster collaboration, entrepreneurialism, build the sector’s creative and business acumen and to ease the cost of overheads.

Approximately 15 desks will be available in March 2018. These will be available to Queensland-based production and game development companies and/or individual practitioners to rent at a subsidised fee.

SQ Hub will be a shared work space and incubator which offers subsidised office and meeting facilities along with a program of business-focused workshops, masterclasses, mentorship and networking opportunities.

The expression of interest process for long-term tenants will be competitive and tenants will be selected based upon the following criteria:

  • Strength and viability of the applicant’s business plan or a proposal outlining how tenancy at SQ Hub will benefit the applicant
  • Potential impact of collaboration, creative and business development opportunities for the applicant through SQ Hub
  • Track record and quality of slate and talent, appropriate to career stage of the applicant/company
  • Benefits for Queensland screen industry, with consideration to the overall ecosystem of the SQ Hub.

SQ welcomes EOIs from talented, ambitious and entrepreneurial Queensland companies and individuals working in the screen and game development sectors. Whether early career or established, applicants should be looking to build their creative and business acumen and strengthen their industry connections.
