Latest appointments bring global experience to Screen Queensland


Screen Queensland CEO Tracey Vieira has announced four new appointments to join the organisation.

“I welcome new staff members Andrea Coyle in the role of Legal and Business Affairs Manager, and Katherine Slattery, Mark Thorley and Andrew Webster, who will each serve as Vice President in the Development and Production team,” Ms Vieira said.

“Collectively, they bring extensive experience and a range of skills that will be of great benefit to the Queensland screen industry. We are very fortunate to have them on board.”

Andrea Coyle has spent the last ten years working as legal and business affairs counsel for The Walt Disney Company, most recently in London in the role of Senior Counsel for Disney’s original productions team. In this role, Andrea advised on all aspects of development and production of new television content for exploitation on the Disney channels EMEA and worldwide. Andrea managed legal and business affairs for Disney’s Emmy award nominated series Henry Hugglemonster, Disney’s Annie Award nominated series Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja and BAFTA nominated series Counterfeit Cat.

Katherine Slattery has worked in the Australian film industry for the past 15 years for organisations including AFI, AFC, Southern Star, ABC, Screen NSW and Screen Australia. In her time as Head of Development and Planning at Arenafilm/Footprint Films in Melbourne, the company distributed the films Samson and Delilah, Balibo, Lucky Country and My Year Without Sex and produced the feature film Balibo. She has worked as a Story Editor, Development Executive (Screen NSW, Screen Australia), and Script Consultant (Waking Dream Productions – The Babadook, The Daughter). As a Producer, Katherine’s work includes Family, as part of the The Turning compendium film (MIFF, Berlin International Film Festival). She produced a two-part television version of playwright Lally Katz’ Stories I Want To Tell You in Person for Matchbox Pictures which premiered at MIFF and screened on the ABC.

Mark Thorley hails from Queensland and is passionate about locally produced content. He spent 10 years with the Australian animation and visual effects company, Animal Logic, managing production and production finance with film credits including Happy Feet, Moulin Rouge! 300. In 2012, Mark joined Lucasfilm in Singapore as the Executive in Charge of Studio Operations where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the studio. His film credits include Rogue One, Kong: Skull Island, The Great Wall and Jurassic World.  With a return to Australia Mark is set to join Screen Queensland and indulge his passion for the development of local Australian film talent.

Andrew Webster has been a farmer, a university teacher and a screenwriter, but was chiefly a journalist for almost 20 years, beginning as a reporter in the cane fields of North Queensland before editing regional, suburban and daily newspapers around the country. He found his niche in the online space, becoming digital editor of The Courier-Mail and then digital editor of The Australian, engaging with millions of consumers across sites, apps and social media. He is excited to apply what he has learned about these emerging platforms to the screen sector, his first passion.

Andrea Coyle and Katherine Slattery joined Screen Queensland in February, while Mark Thorley and Andrew Webster will come on board in the coming months.
