‘The Changing Landscape of VFX in Our Films’

Open to all Queensland practitioners to celebrate the start of production of the live-action version of Dora The Explorer, secured to Queensland by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and the Queensland Government.

Screen Queensland invites you to an exclusive panel event including Paramount Pictures’ Lee Rosenthal, President, Physical Production and Stephanie Allen, Executive Vice President, Visual Effects, Paramount Pictures.

This one-hour panel discussion will address ‘The Changing Landscape of VFX in Our Films’ and include topics such as:

– How do Queensland locations and stages blend to make the world of Dora?

– Discussing the CG creature work that will bring Dora’s animal friends to life.

– Business and Creative context of how VFX is impacting the entire slate of Paramount films.

President of Physical Production

Lee Rosenthal is the President of Physical Production for Paramount Pictures, where he oversees the production management department. He is responsible for supervising physical production, staffing, budgeting & troubleshooting for Paramount’s full slate of films, from pre-production through filming, visual effects and post production. Recent projects include Mission: Impossible – Fallout, A Quiet Place and the upcoming sequel in the Transformers Franchise, Bumblebee. Lee started at Paramount in 1994 as an assistant to the Vice President of Production Management and was elevated to Production Executive and Vice President before eventually becoming head of the department in 2009. Personal Paramount highlights include work on his first feature supervised, Varsity Blues; Rango, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature; Star Trek directed by J.J. Abrams and its sequels; and recent Award favorites Fences and The Big Short.

Stephanie Allen – Executive Vice President, Visual Effects – Paramount Pictures

Stephanie Allen was named Executive Vice President of Visual Effects for Paramount Pictures in April 2015. Prior to that, Allen served as Senior Vice President of Visual Effects since 2012 and Vice President of the department since 2009. She is responsible for managing and delivering all aspects of visual effects for all titles under the Paramount Pictures, Paramount Animation and Paramount Players banners.

Most recently, Allen oversaw the visual effects on Mission: Impossible – Fallout, A Quiet Place, Star Trek: Beyond, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Daddy’s Home 1 & 2.

Previously, Allen also oversaw visual effects for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Monster Trucks, Terminator Genisys, The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Noah, Star Trek: Into Darkness, World War Z, Flight and G.I Joe: Retaliation.

Up next, Allen is overseeing visual effects for the latest installment of the Transformers franchise, Bumblebee, starring Hailee Steinfeld, as well as the J.J. Abrams World War II horror thriller Overlord.

As Vice President, Allen worked on the Transformers franchise, overseeing the visual effects on the series’ third installment, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Achievement in Visual Effects. Additionally, she handled the visual effects on Super 8, from director J.J. Abrams and producer Steven Spielberg; and Jason Reitman’s Academy Award-nominated Up in the Air.

Prior to Paramount, Allen was a visual effects producer on projects for Warner Bros., Twentieth Century Fox and New Line Cinema.

A native of Canada, Allen graduated with honors from Humber College of Applied Arts & Technology in Toronto.
