Screen Queensland congratulates Brisbane-based Ludo Studio for taking out the International Emmy® Kids Award in Cannes last night for their production of Doodles (Ludo Studio / ABC3 Australia / Screen Australia / Screen Queensland / Australia). 

Screen Queensland CEO Tracey Vieira said the Emmy win in the Kids: Digital category showed the power of Doodles’ international appeal.

“This is a well-deserved award for Ludo, one of Australia’s most innovative production houses,” Ms Vieira said.

“Doodles is a multiplatform, interactive, animated comedy series that engages with audiences by taking real people’s drawings and turning them into animated micro movies.”

“Screen Queensland has supported Doodles from its inception and it’s great to see the work of Ludo Studio honoured through this prestigious international award, putting Queensland practitioners in the global spotlight,” she said.

“Congratulations to Queensland production house Ludo on this well-deserved win, which is incredibly their second International Emmy®,” said Screen Australia’s Head of Business and Audience Richard Harris.

“We are so proud to have watched Ludo grow, from creating Doodles out of a social media experiment, utilising funds from our Multiplatform program, to being able to grow their business in 2015 utilising Enterprise funding. Ludo has proved that sometimes all a great idea in the hands of gifted creatives need is the funds to make it happen,” Mr Harris said.

Bruce L. Paisner, the president of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences congratulated all the winners of the fifth annual International Emmy Kids Awards.

“Nothing is more vital on television than the programming kids watch every day, and the Academy is proud that the Emmy is the preeminent awards platform for kids’ programming,” said Mr Paisner.

“We congratulate all the winners for their outstanding achievements and for setting the high-quality standard we all expect for our kids.”

More than 250 international industry execs attended the event in Cannes, France.

Nominations for the International Emmy® Kids Awards were announced in Cannes in October 2016 by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.  There were 28 nominees in seven categories from across 13 countries including Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
