Blueprint Law, specialist legal advisors to the screen entertainment and technology industries, is coming to Brisbane for a special workshop on Wednesday 20 March and proudly supported by Screen Queensland’s sqhub.
The workshop will be hosted by Ted Cawrey and Gary Rogers of Blueprint Law and will offer interactive guidance and practical tips on topics that include:
> What intellectual property (IP) is, what it’s not and why it’s important.
> How to make the most from your IP and how to protect it.
> How to deal in your IP (acquiring, disposing, sharing) and manage it.
> The types of agreements dealing in IP commonly used in the screen entertainment sector.
About Ted Cawrey and Gary Rogers, Blueprint Law:
Based in Brisbane, Ted spearheads Blueprint Law’s film and television practice, with particular expertise in the financing of screened entertainment. Whether it’s a co-production, tax-incentivised investment or privately raised finance, Ted has advised on the monetising of copyright works for over 15 years.
Ted’s experience extends to all matters relating to production and development of content (scripted, non-scripted and interactive) and digital and traditional distribution deals. He drafts, negotiates and advises on complex financing, creative and corporate documents, advising clients that produce, sell, publish, distribute, bond and finance.
Gary established Blueprint Law in 2004 with the aim of creating a different style of law firm, assisting clients in developing a strong and sustainable business, typically going above and beyond for his clients. Gary’s approach has been to provide solid legal advice with commercial insight gained from years of internal experience with boutique and large commercial law firms and from senior in-house counsel roles.
Gary has been the driving-force behind the firm’s enviable reputation in the technology and start-up sectors, helping many clients on the journey from turning an idea into an established business. He has also assisted clients in gaming contracts, book and music publishing as well as licensing and merchandising deals.
Gary works personally for a number of clients but also supervises Blueprint Law’s overall practice.
