PR & DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

About the position

Reporting to the Manager, Communications this newly created position is responsible for executing the Communications Plan in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications Officer and creating and editing content for the Screen Queensland website and digital channels.

The PR & Digital Communications Officer will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders and will support the Manager, Communications on the implementation and evaluation of the Corporate Communications Strategy.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and edit eDMs, newsletters, media releases and material for publications
  • Provide up-to-date and refreshed content for the SQ website
  • Develop and implement social media plans, ensuring timely, on brand and quality control is published frequently
  • Monitor SQ’s social media accounts to ensure interactions are positive and an appropriate reflection of SQ
  • Evaluate SQ’s current social media activities and look for areas of improvement, or new platforms to engage with industry
  • Maintain video library of SQ supported productions

About the Person

The successful candidate will be degree qualified in a relevant discipline and possess a minimum of two years working experience in a PR or Communications position.  Experience in achieving outcomes through implementing media and public relations campaigns with broadcast, print and digital and media is essential along with a passion for thinking outside the box and being willing to try new approaches to deliver content.  You will also:

  • have the ability to research, write, edit and proof content for various media and social media platforms
  • love to film and edit short videos for social media distribution
  • have the proven ability to form and develop relationships with key stakeholders and have an active network of contacts
  • love working with a team and understand that the screen industry is not a 9-5 business.
  • care deeply for those you work with and are generous in working with a team to ensure successful outcomes.

The Marketing & Communications Officer will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders and will support the Manager, Communications, on the implementation and evaluation of the Corporate Communications Strategy.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide core administrative, marketing and communications support
  • Ensure brand messages are consistent, strategic and fit with SQ’s vision
  • Develop SQ marketing materials, promotions and collateral
  • Preparing government briefing notes, reports and correspondence
  • Maintain corporate communication materials including fact sheets, Q&As for each SQ initiative
  • Provide regular media, communications and marketing activity reports for SQ Board meetings.

About the person

To be successful in this role you will be degree qualified in a relevant discipline (Communications/PR) and possess a minimum of twoyears working experience in a similar role along with:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task across pressing priorities
  • The ability to think creatively, strategically and identify & resolve problems
  • Demonstrated experience in researching, writing, editing and proofing content developing communications materials for distinct audiences
  • Be a team player who is generous to the people they work with

Experience with government; a passion for film, television and games; and basic graphic design, filming & video editing skills are all highly desirable.
