Physical Production & COVID Liason Officer

This role supports the Head of Physical Production with facilitating relationships between Screen Queensland (SQ), the domestic and international screen industry, and other agencies relevant to delivering production. It will have a key role in ensuring that productions supported by SQ maximise business and employment opportunities for Queensland’s screen industry and practitioners.  

A particular emphasis will be on supporting continuing production in the context of COVID. This will include ensuring that producers are aware of and compliant with all Queensland and Australian COVID related restrictions and production protocols and productions. Extensive liaison with Queensland Health to ensure all current public health directives are communicated to the production community will be imperative. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to;

  • Liaison and a point of contact for Queensland Health for all production related enquiries including, but not limited to, travel exemption applications, and government hotel quarantine compliance.
  • Provide support across Screen Queensland and the screen industry to ensure knowledge of and compliance with COVID protocols and policies.
  • Provide support and guidance for Queensland crew for COVID related enquiries.
  • Advising and assisting productions with their exemption applications to Queensland Health.
  • Ensuring every production creates and complies with a COVID Safe Work Plan.
  • Contribute to weekly reports on the activities set out above to ensure that the SQ team are updated with all activities.
  • Manage the crew directory and database ensuring it is kept up to date to showcase the experience and capability of the Queensland workforce.
  • Act as the point of contact for production enquiries during leave relief. Availability and flexibility over weekends and after hours as required.

Content Director

Working alongside a team of Content Directors and under the leadership of the Head of Content, this role performs the following duties:

  • Analyse projects and other opportunities for funding through full assessment and recommendation in content-focused programs, including investment programs and business development initiatives.
  • Make critical creative, budgetary, and scheduling recommendations regarding investment and other funding applications.
  • Manage a slate of screen projects from funding through to delivery, providing professional feedback to practitioners and the SQ team.
  • Manage programs within budget and schedule, ensuring applications, assessment, on time delivery, payment, and repayment/recoupment processes run smoothly and are properly recorded, including the management of a pool of external assessors.
  • Develop and deliver ideas for new found initiatives, consistent with SQ’s strategic aims and the remit of the Content team.
  • Contribute to the review of program guidelines, terms of trade and contracts to ensure their relevance and ambition.
  • Work with the Content team and the wider SQ team to maintain, grow and share market intelligence, develop industry networks, and – with responsibility for tracking talent and projects – promote the Queensland industry through those channels.
  • Liaise with domestic organisations that contribute to, or have an interest in, the development of the Queensland screen industry, and work in partnership with them.
  • Build strong professional networks that are a fit with our strategic priorities.
  • Find and professionally nurture new Queensland talent.
  • Participate in and travel to key industry events as required

Content Assistant (Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Program)

This position provides a developing professional with an opportunity to support Screen Queensland’s (SQ) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program and its work within the broader Queensland screen industry. 

  • First point of contact for the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community across Queensland whilst also building networks and relationships.
  • Support the delivery and development of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program.
  • Assist with the eligibility enquiries of screen projects and provide feedback to creative teams when required.
  • Support the Content Director (Indigenous Stories and Talent) to make critical recommendations regarding;
    • development and production investment,
    • market funding and initiatives,
    • assist with the management of specified projects,
    • and find and nurture talent within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Film Community.
  • Engage with the local screen industry and its work, and effectively represent Screen Queensland at industry events.
  • Support the administration of documentation connected to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs and SQ’s broader programs and initiatives.
