Screen Queensland in partnership with Changer and with the support of YouTube has launched Channel Lab: YouTube Accelerator. This new initiative will support emerging Queensland creators who use online platforms to share their screen stories with in-depth training to enhance their production skills, better understand their audience and build their YouTube presence.
Channel Lab: YouTube Accelerator will see up to 20 creators or teams participate in a 16-week program starting on Monday 13 May with Changer. The program includes masterclasses with online experts and one-on-one mentorship, equipping creators with the skills to allow their content to maximise its potential. The team demonstrating the strongest growth during the program will receive an opportunity to travel to a prominent online creator conference.
THE PROGRAM
The Channel Lab: YouTube Accelerator program is divided into two parts and is based off Changer’s established Accelerator program. The first eight weeks features:
- 1 x full-day in-person masterclass at Screen Queensland Studios, Brisbane in Hemmant
- weekly group masterclass sessions (2–2.5 hours each)
- weekly group check-In sessions (1 hour each).
The second part of the program continues for another eight weeks and includes:
- weekly group check-in sessions (1 hour each)
- bespoke 1:1 mentor sessions (3 in total for each cohort member).
Across the 16 weeks, Changer will cover key areas that creators need to master for successful and sustainable growth on YouTube. Participants will be joined weekly by industry experts who will share their knowledge of how to engage, retain and grow online communities. Past experts include Mario Joo, the retention director for Mr Beast (228 million subscribers), and Derek Miller from Veritasium, one of the largest edutainment channels on the platform.
