Screen Business Essentials: Navigating Growth

June 9, 2022

DATE: 23 June 2022
TIME: 9:00am – 5:00pm
VENUE: Online

Screen Queensland will support three Queensland practitioners to virtually attend Screen Business Essentials: Navigating Growth, presented by Screen Producers Australia and Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).

The one day conference provides a practical, real-world guide to help producers grow their businesses and ensure success when partnering and financing their next film or TV project.

The partnerships entered, and the financing decisions made at the very beginning will impact the life of the project for many years – even decades – to come. It is essential to know your rights, be well informed and strategic to ensure maximum returns on both a creative and financial level.

As a mid-career producer or small business owner, you now understand your obligations from a legal, employer and business perspective. On the creative side, you own the rights to a slate of long form projects, in various stages of development. So, what are the next steps when a project is ready to take to market?

Key course takeaways include:

  • How to negotiate the best deal for you and your project when partnering
  • Navigate the pros and cons of official and unofficial co-productions
  • Learn the strategy behind creating a finance plan
