Screen Queensland’s Location Scouting Assistance program provides prospective productions with bespoke script location breakdowns and locations presentations, scouting assistance and liaison with local bodies to make filming in Queensland not only enjoyable, but easy.

Connect with Queensland’s accomplished Location Managers—some of the most experienced in the country—as well as Local Government Authorities (LGAs) who are part of our Film Friendly Councils network. Screen Queensland can also assist in liaising with State Government bodies to assist your production in accessing the correct permits, permissions and up-to-date information. 


GUIDELINES
WHO CAN APPLY?

This support is available to projects that fill the following criteria: 

  • Have a genuine interest in filming in Queensland 
  • Long-form (features and series) projects from interstate and international production companies 
  • Projects prior to commencement of pre-production and prior to, or during, financing 
  • Projects that have a Queensland Production Expenditure (QPE) of at least AUD$1 million. 

Projects outside of these criteria may be considered at the discretion of Screen Queensland. 

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

Through our Locations Scouting Assistance, productions can receive: 

  • Script breakdowns 
  • Locations presentations 
  • Financial assistance for a locations scout hosted by Screen Queensland 
    • support may include costs associated with vehicle hire, accommodation, flights, boat surveys and the contracting of a local location manager
  • Production liaison with Local Government Authorities (LGAs) including Councils and State bodies such as Queensland Police Service (QPS), Department of Transit and Main Roads, etc. 

Support is provided at the discretion of Screen Queensland and may not include all of the above. 

HOW CAN I APPLY?

Applicants need to supply: 

  • Production details including synopsis, summary, project type, production dates etc
  • A script and/or detailed treatment 
  • A budget top sheet with a separate column noting the Screen Queensland ask
  • The CV and position titles of any key creatives and/or cast 
  • Requirements and attending scouting group personnel information 
  • If applicable, Certificate of Incorporation, Option Agreement, Writer Agreement and/or Producer/Co-Producer Agreements.
