New Talent Development Fund now open

Screen Queensland’s Talent Development Fund offers writers up to $15,000 to further develop their film and series draft screenplays under the guidance of an experienced script editor or creative mentor.

This new fund is an outcome of industry consultation which identified the need for funding scripts at an early stage.

Who can apply? Talented bona fide Queensland writers/writing teams whose project does not yet have a producer attached.  Writers must have an existing draft screenplay for the project requiring development.  Applicants and projects may only be successful once through the Talent Development Fund.  Only one application per person will be accepted per round.

How much can I apply for? SQ will fund up to $15,000 (up to $10,000 for writing and up to $5,000 for a script editor or creative mentor/expert). No project will be 100% funded by Screen Queensland.

What is the application process? Applicants will be required to submit a one-pager, screenplay and development plan, indicating what they hope to achieve in this next stage of development and which script editor/mentor they will be using.  The script editor/mentor selected must be a Queenslander, and must have experience working in the designated format.  Due to the anticipated high volume of applications, initial assessments will be made based on the one-pager and the first ten pages of the screenplay.
