The film and television industry encompasses skillsets from creative to crew, including construction, catering, logistics, locations and administration. Production accountants are one of the little-known but highly-demanded roles that support screen projects.
North and Far North Queensland practitioners with a passion for numbers and an interest in working for the screen industry are invited to join us for a 5-day NQ Screen Skills: Production Accounting Workshop with Entertainment Partners’ Jill Hewitt. Learn how to prepare key financial documents including budgets, payroll compliance and screen incentive applications. Experience hands-on training across all the skills required to support a production from development to post.
Participants are required to bring their own lunch and laptop.
NQ Screen Skills: Production Accounting Workshop is delivered as part of Screen Queensland’s North Queensland Regional Program.
ABOUT JILL HEWITT
Jill Hewitt has worked for Moneypenny Services since 1989. Starting out as an accounts assistant, she then worked her way up to be the production accountant/financial controller on films such as Muriel’s Wedding, Paradise Road, Oscar and Lucinda and Moulin Rouge.
Currently, Jill is working as the Training Director at Entertainment Partners—a global company which acquired Moneypenny Services in 2022. Her informal role as a mentor to emerging accountants over the past decade was expanded to a full-time position when Moneypenny was acquired to help with the critical shortage of production accountants and assistants that the industry now faces.
Her role includes running both short and long courses for AFTRS, and bespoke courses on request (Netflix more recently) and other independent training bodies (ACE, TAFE, Universities), setting up new productions to succeed with the right team, and mentoring the right candidate who wishes to step up into the financial controller position.
