Screen Queensland announces 2023 NQ Enterprise recipients


Screen Queensland is pleased to announce the four recipients of NQ Enterprise – a $250,000 fund that provides a grant of up to $75,000 to screen businesses based in Far North and North Queensland, to deliver a 12-month strategy for sector growth and sustainability. Read more about the fund here.

SCREEN SCAPEEND CREDITS FILM CLUB

End Credits Film Club (ECFC) is a non-profit organisation incorporated in 1998. It sources and screens non-mainstream films for members and the public. ECFC has carried out successful community projects for 20 years. It focuses on building community capacity and ownership. 

ECFC bridges the gap between industry and the community by involving community members in lead roles during film production. This results in authentic stories about life in remote communities while enabling the community to gain the necessary skills to continue filmmaking. 

By working with community champions ECFC ensures that projects respect traditional knowledge and customs. This approach not only provides a better understanding of the community but also fosters genuine connections at a grassroots level. 

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

Screen Queensland’s NQ Enterprise funding will support ECFC to create the necessary infrastructure to support multiple communities on a regular and ongoing basis. This involves expanding the team and implementing strategies and systems to increase the scale of the program. Additionally, ECFC aims to explore an open business model or social enterprise to share with communities, as it currently operates solely with volunteers. This will further empower communities and amplify their voices in the development of their country, culture, and stories. 

NEWART COLLECTIVE

Newart Collective is a creative industry social enterprise. They aim to collaborate with local creatives in Far-North Queensland to provide professional growth opportunities, including skill-building, technical expertise, production values, and employment opportunities within the creative arts community. By doing so, they aim to contribute to the growth and sustainability of the creative community in the region, while reinvesting profits into our mission as a not-for-profit social enterprise.

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

The Newart Collective has identified a need for audio technicians in Far-North Queensland to have access to better equipment to gain skills and bid on larger productions. The primary objective of this project is to With the funding, Newart Collective will address the need for audio technicians in Far North Queensland by purchasing a Sound Cart that will provide local technicians with access to high-quality audio equipment enabling early career technicians to gain hands-on experience and develop technical skills related to sound and audio production.

It will also support a space and access to the wider community in order to develop other related technical skills, such as basic networking, cable laying, noise monitoring, and more.

YARNER

Based in Cairns, Yarner script and produce one-of-a-kind stories that hook the audience. Yarner is driven by a desire to make a positive impact on the world, through the lens of comedy. They do this by elevating the voices of those around us, showcasing the talents of peeps from underrepresented groups in our region on screen such as, people living with disability and cultural and gender diversity.

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

Screen Queensland’s funding of Yarner through the NQ Enterprise initiative will support them to build a new and functional website, purchase and train in new software and travel to industry events and markets.

QC VIDEO

QC Productions are a Far North Queensland-based film, TV, and media production company. They create content that resonates, informs, and entertains. They balance a dynamic team of young creatives with solid business experience and a shared interest and passion for the world around us. 

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

Screen Queensland’s funding of QC Video through the NQ Enterprise initiative will assist them in developing their branding and website and upgrading their equipment and facilities.
