Screen Queensland in partnership with the Asian Animation Summit (AAS), is calling-out for Queensland projects to be presented at the 2019 AAS taking 20 – 22 November in Seoul, South Korea. The AAS is a unique showcase for producers of new animated children’s series and feature projects seeking finance and production partners in the Asia-Pacific region. The three-day event has been the launchpad for a significant number of Australian animated series including Queensland series Balloon Barnyard (Like A Photon Creative), The Strange Chores and Bluey (Ludo Studio). This year there are two categories of opportunity available to present at the summit; Co-development Initiative – For earlier-stage projects (series or feature), designed to help them take their next creative steps more successfully. Day one and two at AAS will kick off with a curated series of these short presentations featuring producers looking for like-minded development partners in the region for their projects. Showcase Project – A presentation pitch at the AAS in front of a high-level audience of content-makers, distributors, investors and broadcasters from across the Asia-Pacific region. Projects will be selected based on creative criteria and preference will be given to partially-funded projects over those still in development. Two Queensland projects, as represented by their creative teams, will be selected to present at the AAS and will receive Market Funding from Screen Queensland to support their travel ($3,500 for an individual and $5,000 for a team of two or more). Screen Queensland will be selecting one project to present at each of the above opportunities. The 2019 showcase will be comprised entirely of brand-new animated series and features aimed at young audiences aged up to 15 years and intended for broadcast on free-to-air, subscription television, SVOD (streaming video on demand) or other internet platforms. The AAS is supported by hosting partner KOCCA (Korea), presenting partners MDEC (Malaysia) and BEKRAF (Indonesia), and supporting partners Screen Queensland and Create NSW (Australia), DITP (Thailand) and ASIFA (China.) is where Asian, European, UK and North American broadcasters and distributors come looking for the best new projects from the region.
