North Queensland Regional Program – Expressions of Interest

Applications Close: Friday, 19 November 2021

Screen Queensland is seeking Expressions of Interest proposals from organisations interested in delivering a program of workshops and events, to help develop the skills and career pathways of creatives and production crews living in North Queensland.

This opportunity exists to help continue growing the skills and capacity of the state within regional Queensland, as part of Screen Queensland’s North Queensland Regional Program. This program is an expansion of an existing three-year pilot program, which commits to growing the screen sector in Far North Queensland —targeting regional areas 150km outside of the major metropolitan hubs of South East Queensland.

This program will run over a three-year period, commencing in the 2021-22 financial year. There is a possibility of contract extension, based on delivery of key performance indicators.

Available Funding and Terms

Up to $225,000 grant funding per year for three years (total $675,000) will be offered to the successful applicant.

Applicants should provide a budgeted breakdown of the proposed program of activities. This can include career pathway programs, creative and crew development programs, and/or microfilm and short form projects, aimed at delivering credit-based outcomes.

Screen Queensland will partner with the applicant to deliver the suite of activities.

THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS

APPLICATION ASSESSMENT

How will my application be assessed?

Funding decisions are competitive and subject to a creative and commercial assessment. Screen Queensland reserves the right to vary the amount applied for by applicants and, if there are no competitive and viable applications received, to not proceed with funding for the program.

Applications will be assessed and evaluated by at least two readers, including one external assessor, and then proceed to a panel assessment comprised of internal and external industry members.

The recommendation by the panel will then progress to the Board of Screen Queensland for a final decision.

What happens when my application has been assessed?

Applicants will be informed in writing whether their application has or has not been successful. Screen Queensland aims to make funding decisions within 3 – 4 weeks of an application being lodged, and will advise applicants in writing of their application outcome after the final Board decision is made.

Successful applicants will be informed in writing of the offer, with the grant amount available for their event/s and outlining the next steps.

How will the grant be paid?
