Screen Queensland (SQ) is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from writers and directors for projects to be selected for 37ºSouth: PostScript&Direct.
PostScript&Direct (PS&D) enables screenwriters and directors to meet with a selection of the Australia/NZ producers registered at MIFF 37ºSouth Market.
SQ is pleased to be supporting five Queenslanders to participate in this worthwhile opportunity that will put them face to face with a selection of well known producers seeking to encounter new talent and strong projects. Participants will pitch to producers in a series of one-to-one 15-minute meetings and thereby hone their skills in pitching and broaden their producer contact-base.
In addition, participants will receive a grant from Screen Queensland of $500 to meet the costs of return flights and accommodation. Registration costs will be covered by SQ.
37ºSouth: PostScript&Direct will occur from 1pm on Sunday 31 July at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre in Flinders Street. Registration will be from 12 noon at the Forum. The meetings will occur from 1.30pm (sharp) at the Forum, followed by a networking event.
Eligibility
Please have all submitted expressions of interest strictly by 9.00am Monday 13 June (Screen Queensland will NOT consider submissions made after the deadline).
Eligible participants are:
o Australian citizens or permanent residents living in Queensland
o Queensland writers and directors – the participant must be able to demonstrate clear rights for all the nominated projects as needed
o Have one market ready screenplay as lead project as part of a slate of up to three projects that may be at strong concept stage
o A commitment from the applicant that ensures they are available to participate in PS&D 31 July 2016.
How will my expression of interest be assessed?
Screen Queensland will assess each submission, taking into consideration:
o the track record of the writer, or director
o the quality of the lead project and slate, or director’s body of work (whether projects are creatively compelling, market ready, have a demonstrable audience/commercial appeal and key creative and/or market attachments and demonstrate talent)
o the appropriateness of the writer’s slate or the director’s body of work to the event (whether attendance will be of benefit to the slate and the extent to which it may benefit career development)
o the benefit to the Queensland screen industry
What documents do I need to provide?
Please review the check-list at the end of the submission form. Incomplete submissions will NOT be assessed.
For all EOIs we require:
o CV of the writer, or director
o For writers; one paragraph synopsis for each of up to three projects that demonstrates the writer has a strong body of work
o For writers; screenplay of one lead project which will be the focus of the submission
o For directors; copies, or links to a portfolio of audiovisual work
o One completed PDF and one Word file (.docx) version of the PostScript&Direct submission form (available via SmartyGrants)
o One jpeg image of the writer or director that is recent and clear

What happens if my submission is successful?
o A screen Queensland staff member will contact you to seek confirmation of availability and commitment to attendance by Tuesday 14 June.
o Successful participants will enter into a contractual agreement with Screen Queensland.
o Any reporting and acquittal requirements, and timelines for their delivery will be agreed.
o A drawdown schedule for payment of funding will be agreed.
o Funding payments cannot be made without a fully executed contract and on receipt of a valid tax invoice.
o Due to the fast turn around of the program, participants may not receive grant funds prior to attendance and are expected to cover initial expenses.
