Deadline Extended to 28 August for applications for SQ and Stan ‘QLD Originals’ Fully Funded Features

The deadline for the Screen Queensland (SQ) and Stan ‘Queensland Originals:Fully Funded Features’ to develop and finance a $1 million feature film has been extended to Friday 28 August (no late or incomplete applications will be accepted.)

This first Australian SVOD-exclusive feature film commission is open to Queensland producers and creative teams (comprising writer, director or writer-director, and producer) to develop and produce a $1 million feature film, fully financed by SQ.

‘Queensland Originals’ aims to position Queensland in the first wave of early-screen adopters to new and changing distribution methods, and to demonstrate that these can co-exist with the pursuit of Australian theatrical audiences and international festival audiences.

Who can apply?

Eligible applicants are:

– Experienced Queensland producers working with writers and writer-directors with no more than one feature film credit or equivalent;
– The demonstrated owner of the rights to the project.

An ‘experienced Queensland producer’ is a bona fide Queensland resident and an Australian citizen or permanent resident with at least one credit as producer on a feature film that has been screened on five or more commercial screens or at least one credit as producer on a telemovie aired on network television or at least one credit as producer on a television series aired on network or cable television.

SQ may consider applications from less experienced Queensland producers who can demonstrate a strong body of work and career trajectory, working with an experienced co-‐producer or executive producer.

While applications from Queensland producers with interstate writers and directors will be accepted, preference will be given to teams and projects that provide clear benefits to Queensland’s talent and industry.

When do I need to apply?

Key dates include:

– Applications close: 28 August 2015. Late applications will not be accepted and incomplete applications will not be considered.
– Interviews for shortlisted applicants/creative teams: August/September 2015.
– Successful teams announced: early September 2015.
