Developing an idea to the level where it can attract development or production financing can be a challenging journey for independent and early-career creatives. There are also numerous support and funding avenues to navigate.
Screen Queensland in partnership with Screenworks is presenting Make It In FNQ: From Concept to Greenlight to unpack the process when it comes to project development and pursuing funding opportunities.
Ian Lynch, Content Director at Screen Queensland will offer insights into:
- practitioner and project support available from the state’s screen agency
- funding streams, eligibility and tips for preparing a competitive application
- how you can best take advantage of all that the agency offers for Queensland creatives.
Dan Mulvihill of Mad Dan Productions (Townsville) and Roaring Entertainment (Brisbane) will also share his experiences and perspectives as an independent screenwriter and producer — from his early web series through to his first feature film, A Savage Christmas.
Dan has worked with screen professionals, funding bodies and private investors across his production slate and will illustrate the innovative ways he has approached project development and funding through some thought-provoking case studies.
A Q&A session will complete the session, with attendees encouraged to ask questions of the guest speakers, followed by networking.
One-on-one Pitch/Mentor Meetings will also be available with our guest presenters and Screenworks CEO Lisa O’Meara from midday on Friday 14th April. Booking information will be forwarded to the registered attendees.
This event is part of Screen Queensland’s Far North Queensland Strategic Plan, delivered by Screenworks
