Screen Queensland, in partnership with Screenworks, is offering an exciting career-boosting opportunity for four emerging editors from North and Far North Queensland. Selected participants will undertake a four-day editing and post-production intensive under the mentorship of editor and post-production and visual effects supervisor Stephen Cooper.
Learn the art and technique of editing scripted content, focussing on the three principal stages of the edit—the assembly edit, rough cut and fine cut. Using industry-standard software, participants will cover the essential tools for crafting compelling narratives through:
- shaping story, performance and rhythm
- dialogue editing
- building emotional arcs
- guiding eye trace
- shaping subtext
- breaking down scripts to uncover editorial opportunities and narrative intent
- editing styles, adjusted for genre
- evaluating rushes/dailies
- identifying the strongest performances.
Light refreshments will be provided, but participants will need to bring their own lunch and water bottle.
NQ Screen Skills: Post-Production Intensive is part of our North Queensland Regional Program, delivered in partnership with Screenworks.
