Expressions of interest wanted for Emerging Screen Sector Program

Screen Queensland is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for one or more entities to provide a range of professional and career development services to Queensland film, television, multi-platform and games’ practitioners.

The funding is provided from both the State and Federal Governments via Screen Australia’s State and Industry Partnerships Program of up to $480,000 per annum for two years. In addition, Screen Australia will provide $35,000 in funding for Raw Nerve which supports the production of short films by new practitioners.

Screen Queensland Chair Professor Peter Little said Screen Queensland’s initiative to seek expressions of interest aligns with Screen Queensland’s three-year strategy to invigorate and foster a strong and sustainable screen industry in Queensland:

“The film, television and screen industry in Queensland is experiencing a resurgence in popularity, and now is the perfect time to capitalise on generating a renewed interest within the new and emerging sectors of the industry,” Professor Little said.

Screen Queensland is seeking pathways to industry through affordable programs that service both metropolitan and regional Queensland and target indigenous and non-indigenous practitioners. Services may be delivered in a number of ways including: industry seminars and workshops; practical and business development experience; attachment, intern and mentorship programs; pitching competitions; networking events.

Screen Queensland will be responsible for administering this funding and it is envisaged that funding will commence from July 2014 and will be apportioned across up-skilling programs and operational costs.

Screen Queensland will be hosting two information sessions including a full presentation of the EOI guidelines plus a Q&A forum in Brisbane and the Gold Coast on Thursday 23 January.

The Brisbane EOI session details are State Library of Queensland, South Bank, commencing at 5:00 pm.

The Gold Coast EOI session details are Gold Coast Arts Centre, Panorama Suite, Surfers Paradise, commencing at 7:30am.

The EOI guidelines and application form can be accessed via www..screenqueensland.com.au including RSVP details for the Thursday 23 January Brisbane and Gold Coast EOI information sessions.

Deadline for submissions is COB 21 February, 2014.
