The first feature film to be developed through a partnership between Stan and Screen Queensland has begun filming this week in south east Queensland, announced Screen Queensland CEO Tracey Vieira.
“The Second is a psychological thriller starring Rachael Blake, Susie Porter, Vince Colosimo, Martin Sacks and Susan Prior,” Ms Vieira said.
“The Second will film in the Western Downs region including at Dalby’s Jimbour House, Jandowae, Lake Broadwater, and in Brisbane.”
“The Second will have a national theatrical release, distributed through Mindblowing World, with the potential to be shown at film festivals across the globe, followed by an exclusive release on Stan,” Ms Vieira said.
Ms Vieira said the film featured a creative team of Queensland-based director Mairi Cameron and writer/producer Stephen Lance with Leanne Tonkes as producer.
“It is great to see this project now in production with Screen Queensland leading the way in developing local content with talented Queensland practitioners,” Ms Vieira said.
The Second was named as the initial project from Screen Queensland Originals Fully Funded Features initiative coming to Stan subscribers across Australia.
“We’re delighted to have Stan’s first original film, The Second begin production. It’s been a fantastic process working with the team at Screen Queensland and this amazing group of creatives, and we can’t wait to bring it to Australian audiences in 2018,” said Nick Forward, Stan’s Chief Content Officer.
Producer Leanne Tonkes said “Stephen Lance and I are delighted to be launching Mairi’s feature career and to be working with Amy Hobby and Anne Hubbell of Tangerine Entertainment – two wonderful advocates of female filmmakers.”
The Second is about two female friends whose lives entwine in the pages of an elusive second novel.
