Screen Queensland and Bond University have announced a new partnership to expand the sqhub to the Gold Coast with a new co-working space called the Creative Hub, located on campus at Bond University on the Gold Coast.

Tracey Vieira, CEO of Screen Queensland (SQ) said the Brisbane-based sqhub had helped grow ten screen industry businesses since launching last year and this expansion to the Gold Coast will help build on this success.

“Expanding sqhub in partnership with Bond University is an ideal demonstration of industry, government and education working collaboratively to build local capability and screen industry businesses and creatives both now and for the future,” said Ms Vieira.

“The new Creative Hub will leverage the region’s reputation as a global screen industry hub and help build local skills and business acumen to capitalise on the opportunities available in the screen industry,” Ms Vieira said.

Bond University Vice-Chancellor & President, Professor Tim Brailsford, said the new Creative Hub was closely linked to Bond’s Film, Screen & Creative Media disciplines and was “the next evolution of the film and television industry” that will see screen industry creatives such as filmmakers, producers, writers and game developers working alongside students sharing green screens, boardrooms and office space.

Applications for residency at the Creative Hub are now open to Queensland-based production and game development companies and individual practitioners with 12 desks available at a subsidised fee of $181.50 per desk (including GST).

Successful applicants will receive secure 24/7 access to the Creative Hub, use of its meeting and screening rooms, access to a green screen room, kitchen and end of trip facilities.

Residency at the Creative Hub also includes a business development incubator, networking opportunities and free access to all Creative Hub and sqhub events, workshops and masterclasses, as well as connections with student interns from Bond University’s Film, Screen & Creative Media disciplines.

The Creative Hub is looking for innovative businesses and exciting teams to join their community.
