The End is being produced by See-Saw Films, an Academy Award-winning Australian/UK production company. See-Saw’s recent productions include Lion which was nominated for six Academy Awards® and won two BAFTAs, and Top Of The Lake: China Girl, which premiered at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for eight Emmys and two Golden Globe Awards. The End was created and written by Samantha Strauss (Dance Academy, Wentworth, The Wrong Girl) and will be the TV directing debut of Jessica M. Thompson. The End’s Executive Producer, See-Saw Film’s Rachel Gardner said: “The Gold Coast really is a lead character in our series and we couldn’t be more delighted to be filming there with the incredible support of Screen Queensland.” Foxtel’s Head of Drama Penny Win said: “Commissioning The End was a wonderful opportunity for Foxtel and we’re excited to be collaborating with our colleagues at Sky in the UK on this, our joint first co-commission. The End will present a universal story that affects us all, with Sam Strauss’s beautiful storytelling being brought to life by an exceptionally talented cast and crew.
