Screen Queensland has today announced the launch of the $250,000 Online Elevation Fund, a new initiative to support Queensland’s fast-growing creator economy.

This first-of-its-kind fund will offer up to $50,000 to established creator businesses to scale their operations, grow their audiences and build long-term sustainability. Funding will be directed towards key operational investments such as staffing, studio hire, professional development and business diversification.

Minister for the Arts John-Paul Langbroek welcomed the Online Elevation Fund as part of the Crisafulli Government’s commitment through Queensland’s Time to Shine: a 10-Year Strategy for Arts and Culture, to grow screen businesses and expand industry opportunities.

“Queensland’s creator economy is part of an industry worth more than $50 billion nationally and this fund will help local creators transform their creative success into long-term sustainable businesses.

“By investing in creator-led enterprises we are supporting jobs, innovation and new opportunities for Queensland storytellers to reach audiences nationally and internationally.”

Screen Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney said the Online Elevation Fund recognises the growing role of creator businesses within Queensland’s screen ecosystem and the importance of supporting them at the right stage of development.

“Our industry-leading support has already helped lift production values and audience reach for Queensland creators, with projects gaining national recognition including AACTA nominations and now we are investing in the businesses behind that success.

“The Online Elevation Fund backs those businesses to shift from strong momentum to sustainable growth and take their creator businesses from good to great.”

Applications are open to Queensland businesses creating original online content and close Monday 13 April. For more information visit screenqueensland.com.au
