TV WEEK LOGIE AWARDS 2018
SCREEN INDUSTRY EVENTS
Presented by Screen Queensland, Screen Producers Australia and Channel Nine
The TV Week Logie Awards is coming to the Gold Coast, Queensland for the first time in its 60-year history airing on Channel Nine on Sunday 1 July. The Queensland Government via Screen Queensland, has partnered with Screen Producers Australia and Channel Nine, to celebrate the people behind the camera with two screen industry events taking place at The Star, Gold Coast.
A student-focussed forum is being held this Friday 29 June, and an industry-focussed forum on Saturday 30 June, both from 10.00am – 12.30pm.
The inaugural TV Week Logie Award Screen Industry Events will put the focus firmly on the people behind the lens. The producers. The writers. The directors. The cinematographers. The creatives. The crew. To name a few. Simply put, focusing on the people that get screen productions off-the-ground and onto television screens, mobiles, tablets, and deliver excellent screen content to a national and international audience.
Tracey Vieira, CEO of Screen Queensland said Queensland is focussed on series production, supporting local storytellers, and attracting productions to build a flourishing and vibrant screen industry.
“We are so excited that Queensland is the new home to the TV Week Logie Awards and to be supporting these screen forums as part of our efforts to build a strong and successful industry,” said Ms Vieira.
“These events aim to connect screen leaders with local practitioners and students to share knowledge and encourage robust discussion about the future of the small screen.
“We are also so proud to see Screen Queensland-supported productions nominated at this year’s TV Week Logies including Harrow (ABC – Most Outstanding Drama Series), Safe Harbour (SBS – Most Outstanding Miniseries or telemovie) and Grace Beside Me (NITV – Most Outstanding Children’s Program) and we wish them all the very best on the night!”
Matthew Deaner, CEO at Screen Producers Australia said the TV Week Logie Awards Screen Industry Events have been developed to celebrate Australian content and its cultural and economic currency on a local and global scale.
“This forum highlights the importance of industry collaboration in fostering our local production sector and its rich talent pool to extend international reach and development opportunities.”
