Hollywood star Adrian Grenier has arrived in Far North Queensland for his latest project, You, Always supported by Screen Queensland.
While principal photography will largely be on location in tropical Far North Queensland, production will also take place at Screen Queensland Studios, Cairns utilising the facility’s state-of-the-art sound stage and production offices.
Produced by Brisbane-based Jaggi Entertainment You, Always is a heartfelt romantic comedy starring Adrian Grenier as Ethan (Entourage, The Devil Wears Prada) and Jessica De Gouw as Dr Jen Bell (The Union, The Portable Door). The film follows Ethan, a devoted best friend who finally realises he’s been in love with Jen all along — just as her world is turned upside down by the arrival of a charismatic author Patrick, played by Desmond Chiam (Joy Ride, Mortal Kombat 2). Also joining the cast is comedian Yasmin Kassim (One Perfect Match), Spencer McLaren (The Secret Life of Us, Fake) and Cairns newcomer Adyn Kingi.
Minister for Education and the Arts, John-Paul Langbroek said the Queensland Government was proud to support the production of You, Always which is expected to generate approximately $3.5 million for Queensland and create 100 new jobs.
“Queensland is the best place in the world to live and the wonderful beauty of tropical Far North Queensland will be showcased to the world through You, Always,” Minister Langbroek said.
“This is the sixth movie Jaggi Entertainment has filmed in Far North Queensland and we know each time the camera rolls it provides a welcome boost to our economy and supports local jobs for Queenslanders.
“This is a 100 per cent Queensland-made production and our government is proud to continue supporting our talented film industry professionals.”
Screen Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney said that the project is supported by the agency’s Screen Finance Fund and Post, Digital and Visual Effects (PDV) Incentive and marks the first project to receive funding from the new North Queensland Production Incentive.
“This incentive will help drive more film and series production in the North Queensland region, securing employment and training opportunities for local screen practitioners while increasing regional economic expenditure and stimulating wider business and tourism benefits for regional communities.
“You, Always joins a strong slate of films brought to North Queensland by Jaggi Entertainment, including Netflix smash Love is in the Air, which highlights the appetite Australian and international audiences have for seeing our northern tropics on screen and the opportunity that exists for the screen industry to continue to capitalise on this demand through increased local production.”
Jaggi Entertainment producer Kylie Pascoe said that the opening of Screen Queensland Studios, Cairns earlier this year enhances the extraordinary experience of filming in Far North Queensland, complementing the company’s established passion for creating Jaggi Entertainment films in the region.
“We couldn’t have done it without the invaluable support of Screen Queensland. Their commitment to fostering local talent and businesses for productions has been instrumental in making this film a reality.
“Filming in Far North Queensland has allowed us to capture the stunning natural beauty of what Queensland has to offer, it’s truly a privilege to create this story in such a unique and inspiring location.”
Steve Jaggi, producer on the film, said he is thrilled to bring You, Always to life here in Cairns.
“The region’s breathtaking landscapes and vibrant community have been the perfect setting for this production which we will be presenting on a world stage. The support we’ve received from locals has already been amazing and it’s exciting to see this story come together in such a remarkable part of Queensland.
“Being able to show Adrian Grenier what Queensland has to offer is also something Jaggi Entertainment is immensely proud of.”
Adrian Grenier said that filming You, Always in Cairns is an absolute dream.
“The natural beauty of Far North Queensland provides such a stunning backdrop for this story, and the warmth of the local community and the Jaggi Entertainment family has been incredible.
It’s exciting to bring this project to life in such a special place, and I can’t wait for audiences to see it. Wrapping just before the holidays makes it feel even more magical — it’s the perfect way to end the year.”
You, Always is written by Ansley Gordon and directed by Christine Luby, with producers Steve Jaggi and Kylie Pascoe leading the project. Jaggi Entertainment is one of seven recipients of Screen Queensland’s $3 million Business Enterprise fund.
