Meet the Broadcasters – NITV (Thur 16 July, Brisbane)


Screen Queensland invites you to ‘Meet the Broadcasters – NITV’, Thursday 16 July 2015 at Queensland Multicultural Centre, Kangaroo Point, Brisbane, 4.00pm – 6.30pm. NITV commissioning will also be available for one-on-one and round table meetings by appointment between 2.00pm – 4.00pm.

You’re invited to attend an information sharing session with Australia’s dedicated Indigenous broadcaster, National Indigenous Television (NITV).

NITV has been broadcasting as part of SBS since 2012 and holds an important and unique place in the media landscape.

NITV provides an essential voice for Indigenous Australians and offers all Australians a window to Indigenous cultural heritage, stories, ideas and aspirations. It provides a diverse range of programming showcasing culture, languages and talent and is constantly in development, exploring innovative ways to grow our content to make a greater impact.

During this session NITV’s commissioning team, Mary-Ellen Mullane, Jade Christian and Helen Laughton, will discuss the ongoing development of the channel and provide valuable insights about opportunities to work with NITV. The NITV team will explain how the commissioning process works and provide examples of what types of projects NITV are looking to include in their schedule.

Location: Queensland Multicultural Centre, 102 Main Street, Kangaroo Point, Brisbane, QLD 4169

Time: 3.45pm arrival for a 4.00pm start – 6.30pm

Cost: FREE – RSVPs are essential. There will be a door list and name tags for all guests on arrival

Catering: Light refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the presentation

Location: Limited free parking is available onsite at the venue. Additional paid parking spaces are also available on Main Street, Kangaroo Point. The closest public transport options are bus ‘Stop 6’, Main Street at Story Bridge East, or the Holman Street Ferry Terminal.

ONE-ON-ONE AND ROUND TABLE MEETINGS:

NITV Commissioning will also be available by appointment for individual meetings and a round table for early career practitioners between 2.00pm – 4.00pm on Thursday 16 July at the Queensland Multicultural Centre.

The one-on-one sessions will be an opportunity for content producers to discuss their projects and specific commissioning opportunities that may be available to them.

Please note, you will be asked to supply some information about your projects upon request for a one-on-one meeting.

Early career filmmakers are invited to attend a round table meeting to discuss the fundamentals of NITV’s Our Stories, Our Way, Everyday programming. This session will provide a platform for early career practitioners to discover more information about this unique storytelling initiative.
