Screen Queensland is replacing our SmartyGrants portal with a new platform.
The move to a new platform will provide funding applicants and recipients with a streamlined flow to make applying and acquitting Screen Queensland incentives, funds, grants and initiatives more efficient and easier to manage.
To support this process, SmartyGrants will be closing to all activity from Monday 2 November while information is transferred to the new portal. During this transition period, processing of applications, deliverables and acquittals will be paused. Drawdown payments will also be paused and resume as soon as the new portal is live.
All active applications submitted prior to closing (including approved applications) will be automatically migrated to the new system. Draft applications will not be transferred to the new portal.
Your personal information will continue to be managed in accordance with Screen Queensland’s Privacy Policy and Privacy Notice and Consent Form.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
UNSUBMITTED APPLICATIONS
If you have any incomplete applications, deliverables or acquittals that are ready to submit through SmartyGrants, please ensure they are completed and submitted before 9am AEST on Monday 2 November 2026. After this time, SmartyGrants will no longer accept submissions or other activity. Draft or unsubmitted forms will not be transferred over to the new system.
APPLICATION AND DRAWDOWN PROCESSING
Processing of all applications, deliverables and acquittals will be paused from Monday 2 November 2026. Drawdown payments will also not be processed during the transition period.
ACCESSING THE NEW PLATFORM
From Monday 30 November, account registration will open on the new portal via email invitation for approved applications that have not yet acquitted. From Monday 7 December, account registration opens for all previous and new applicants and available funding programs will open for new applications.
ACCESSING SMARTYGRANTS RECORDS
Historical (non-active) applications, contracts and acquittal forms will not be migrated to the new portal. We recommend you download a PDF of your submitted applications, forms and acquittal forms by Friday 18 December if you would like to retain a copy.
Read-only access to SmartyGrants will be available for active and historical applications, contracts and acquittals between Monday 2 November to Friday 18 December. Applicants can download their records during this period. After Friday 18 December, records access will no longer be available, and these will not be transferred to the new funding platform.

GENERAL
Why is Screen Queensland moving from SmartyGrants to a new funding portal?
Screen Queensland is transitioning from SmartyGrants to provide a new and improved funding portal for applicants. The new platform will provide a more streamlined experience for managing funding applications and related activities with Screen Queensland.
When is SmartyGrants closing?
SmartyGrants will close for all activity at 9am AEST on Monday 2 November. After this time, you will no longer be able to submit applications, deliverables or acquittal forms through SmartyGrants. Read-only records will be available for download by previous applicants until Friday 18 December.
Why does SmartyGrants need to close during the transition?
The closure provides a clear transfer point between the two systems, allowing Screen Queensland to safely transfer and validate information. This helps maintain the integrity, security and accuracy of information being transferred to the new portal.
DRAFT APPLICATIONS
I have a draft application currently open in SmartyGrants. What do I need to do?
If you need to submit an application form through SmartyGrants, please ensure it is submitted before 9am AEST on Monday 2 November. After this time, SmartyGrants will no longer accept submissions, and your draft information will not be transferred to the new platform.
What happens if I don’t submit my application before SmartyGrants closes?
Draft or unsubmitted forms will not be transferred over to the new system. If you miss the closing deadline, you will need to start a new submission when available funding programs open in the new portal on Monday 7 December. We recommend anyone with a draft application downloads their application as a PDF to ensure they have a copy.
DELIVERABLES AND ACQUITTALS
I have a deliverable or acquittal due around the time SmartyGrants closes. What should I do?
If your deliverable or acquittal is ready before 9am AEST on Monday 2 November, please submit it through SmartyGrants before the closure.
If you miss this deadline you will need to wait until you receive your invitation to register on the new platform on Monday 30 November and lodge your submission then.
DRAWDOWN PAYMENTS
Can I receive drawdown payments during the SmartyGrants closure period?
Once SmartyGrants closes at 9am AEST on Monday 2 November, processing of drawdown payments will also be paused until the new platform opens. Relevant applicants will receive an email inviting you to register on the portal from Monday 30 November, after which payment processing will recommence.
EXISTING SMARTYGRANTS RECORDS
Do I need to download my previous applications?
If you would like to retain a copy of your Screen Queensland applications or other records held in SmartyGrants, we recommend downloading them during the available access period.
Previous SmartyGrants applications and records will be available to download from Monday 2 November until Friday 18 December.
What will happen to my previous applications, contracts and acquittal forms currently in SmartyGrants?
Historical applications, contracts and acquittal forms will not be migrated to the new portal. We recommend you download a PDF of your submitted applications, forms and acquittal forms by Friday 18 December if you would like to retain a copy.
