In this intensive you will have the opportunity to hear from Tait Brady of Label Distribution, an industry insider who will demystify the business side of the film industry and provide keen insights into cinema exhibition, international sales and Australian distribution including new online distribution platforms.

This course will dissect the workings of distribution, with specific reference to theatrical release, the mysteries of the P&A budget and the DVD business. It will lift the lid on the closed world of the cinema exhibition business which determines how, when and where films reach the public.

You will examine contractual and professional relationships that filmmakers face and expand the filmmakers’ understanding of what happens to their film once it is thrust into this world.

By the end of the course you will have gained an understanding of:

> Producer/distributor and producer/sales agent relationships

> Distribution contracts, commissions and what they really mean

> How to deliver and support your film and what materials are required

> The cinema release platform and why it is still so important

> The relationship between the distributor and the exhibitor

> How to interpret the Australian weekly box office chart and a P&A budget

> The requirements of a sales agent and how to choose the best for your project
