Screen Queensland CEO Tracey Vieira said Legend of Sun and Moon has been attracted by the State Government’s $50 million Production Attraction Strategy.

Todd Fellman said“Legend of Sun and Moon is an incredibly ambitious film that will deliver enormous benefits for our local industry.  It sets a new benchmark for official co-productions between Australia and China.

“The support of Screen Queensland and the Queensland Premier has been invaluable in making this ground-breaking collaboration possible,” says Fellman.

Legend of Sun and Moon is based on a well-known Chinese legend and reimagines the classic tale of Chang-E, Goddess of the Moon and Hou Yi, the heroic archer who shot down nine of 10 suns that were scorching the Earth.

The film will be distributed in China by Tencent with Chinalion handling the Australian theatrical release.

Legend of Sun and Moon will film at Village Roadshow Studios, prior to Paramount Pictures’ Dora the Explorer commencing production.
