MEDIA RELEASE: Ludo Studio’s Bluey to screen on ABC KIDS and ABC KIDS iview from Oct 1

The animated series Bluey, produced by Brisbane’s multi Emmy® Award-winning Ludo Studio is screening on ABC KIDS from Monday 1 October at 8.00am. The Queensland Government through Screen Queensland proudly supported Bluey with development and production funding.

Bluey is about a loveable and inexhaustible six-year-old Australian Blue Heeler dog, and is targeted at a preschool audience and celebrates play.

“This is another winning series from Ludo Studio, the same production house that has produced Emmy® Award winner #7DaysLater and Emmy® winning Doodles,” said Screen Queensland CEO Tracey Vieira.

Bluey is about to launch on the ABC and into the hearts of her audience.

“Screen Queensland is a proud supporter of Ludo Studio and its co-founders, Bluey producers’ Charlie Aspinwall and Daley Pearson, and we are proud of their local and international success to-date as they roll from one hit project to the next.

“The Bluey animated series had a Queensland Production Expenditure of over $4 million and is set in Brisbane Queensland with Australian voice talent,” said Ms Vieira.

“We are so excited to see Bluey on screen as the series encapsulates Queensland’s quintessential local neighbourhoods with Queensland houses and settings being the focus.

“Blue skies and swimming pools are captured showcasing a very Queensland environment to the audience.”

“Thanks to Screen Queensland for helping bring together the Bluey team under one roof,” said Charlie Aspinwall, Director of Ludo Studio and Bluey Producer.

“Joe Brumm and over 40 Queensland animators, designers, sound and production talent are doing an incredible job. These artists have taken everything beautiful about Brisbane and put it on the screen to make a truly Australian show.”

Michael Carrington, ABC Acting Head of Distribution, Entertainment and Specialist, said: “The ABC is proud to champion Australian animation and we are thrilled with the calibre of talent and the quality of work coming from Queensland’s Ludo Studio – they are world-class!”

The Queensland-based creative team includes creator/showrunner Joe Brumm (Dan The Man, Charlie and Lola), Emmy® Awarding-winning producer/executive producer Charlie Aspinwall (Doodles, #7DaysLater), Emmy® Awarding-winning executive producer Daley Pearson (#7DaysLater, The Strange Calls), and animation director Richard Jeffery (Tinga Tales). The series was executive produced by Michael Carrington, ABC Acting Head of Content Distribution, and Henrietta Hurford-Jones, Director of Children’s Content for BBC Studios.
