Sean Gilligan - Headshot-1

Sean Gilligan is an award winning Brisbane based filmmaker who’s been working in the industry for over 15 years. He was the co-founder of Squareyed Films and his work has spanned short films, music videos, documentaries and TVCs.

Sean has been working with PixelFrame producers Lucas Thyer and Jeff Tseng on their latest feature project, The Kingdom of Me. They’ve been developing the project through the Screen Queensland / STAN Fully Funded Feature Film Initiative which took the idea from a one paragraph synopsis to 3rd draft feature screenplay in 5 months. Sean writes to SQ – “It’s been a challenging but hugely rewarding whirlwind of a journey.”

The SQ/Stan initiative supported the team under the mentorship of Amy Hobby and Anne Hubble from New York based Tangerine Entertainment, Rob Gibson from Stan and Screen Queensland.

As the script evolved The Kingdom of Me team engaged Shayne Armstrong as script consultant whose insight and constructive feedback has allowed the project to take another leap forward into it’s latest draft.

Recently the script has attracted international interest with Sean being invited to bring the project to the Stowe Story Lab in Vermont, USA. The immersive five day writer’s retreat is another incredibly exciting development for The Kingdom of Me working with some great writer’s from the American film industry.

SQ congratulates Sean on this incredible achievement and wishes him all the best of luck in Vermont.
