Screen Queensland is seeking interest from North and Far North Queensland-based screen businesses in tenant suites available at Screen Queensland Studios, Cairns. By joining the Screen Queensland Studios, Cairns community, tenants will be part of the region’s vibrant new screen hub and have the potential to provide on-site services for local, national and international productions, as well as to the wider industry.
Screen Queensland encourages proposals from a diverse range of companies, including local Cairns-based screen industry businesses, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander screen industry businesses, and industry suppliers. Businesses based outside the North and Far North Queensland regions are also welcome to apply, however proposals must address additional criteria including an industry development plan for creating local employment opportunities.
Expressions of interest closing: Friday 1 December
Opening in early 2024, the new $12.6 million studio complex will include a sound stage, editing and recording suites, meeting rooms and an event space.
To complement these facilities, Screen Queensland is seeking Expressions of Interest from local screen businesses. There are multiple tenancies available, ranging between 48m² to 50m² and each tenancy includes one onsite car park. Rent is $400 per week plus outgoings.
Construction on the Screen Queensland Studios, Cairns development at Plath Close, Portsmith commenced in March 2023 by local company Richard Field Constructions, creating employment opportunities for 200 staff and contractors.
Recent productions filmed in North and Far North Queensland supported by Screen Queensland include Wizards!, Ticket to Paradise, Love is in the Air, Black Snow and Revealed: Reefshot.
