Five ‘Rising’ projects shortlisted to take part in the Screen Queensland + Stan Premium Drama Development Workshops
Five premium drama projects from early to mid-career Queensland creative teams have been shortlisted to take part in the next stage of the ‘Rising’ strand (Queensland-based individuals or creative teams without an established producer or production company and without experience in series drama) of the Screen Queensland (SQ) + Stan Premium Drama Development Fund.
In an Australian-first, SQ and Stan partnered to co-fund the premium drama investment pool to support the development of Queensland-created, high‐end drama series with the potential to connect with Stan’s Australian audience and international audiences alike.
Earlier this month, the five shortlisted teams attended workshops with writer-producer Anthony Mullins and Stan’s Head of Originals, Rob Gibson, to strengthen their concepts and materials. The teams are:
> An Uncertain Grace
Writer: Krissy Kneen
> Love is Dead
Writers: Samuel Keene & Chantelle Murray
> The Bloody Satisfaction of Derek Gott
Writer: Steve Baker
> X-Programmed
Writers: Siobhan Mulready & Matthew Payne
> Deep North
Writers: Ian Lawson & Stephen Carleton
These ‘Rising’ creative teams are now refining their projects with a further SQ-supported workshop and will resubmit their materials as part of the ‘Established’ round of the SQ + Stan Premium Drama Development Fund.
