Queensland partners with SBS to unearth comedic talent

The Comedy Runway, is a nationwide initiative which sees Screen Queensland, and other Australian screen agencies, partner with national broadcaster, SBS, to unearth the next generation of comedic talent. Screen Queensland and SBS are seeking to invest in the development and production of comedy pilots to be hosted on www.sbs.com.au and published and promoted via www.sbs.com.au/comedy

Screen Queensland is calling-on local comedy writers and digital producers to submit ideas for an online comedy series, with successful applicants eligible for up to $20,000 in funding to help turn their ideas into a pilot to be featured on SBS Online. Two (2) proposed Projects may be funded in Queensland with $20,000 as the maximum amount funded per project.

As the successful applicant you will be expected to create a work that is original, compelling with a comedic narrative. In line with the SBS Charter, ideas geared towards a multicultural audience and containing modern Australian themes are encouraged.

Successful pilots may also be considered for production as a fully funded web series and beyond that a possible break into television.

Applicants must have demonstrable experience in comedy however practitioners at all levels of experience are invited to apply plus digital content producers.
