The Screen Queensland Talent Development Fund 2018-19 – Round 1 Now Open

The Screen Queensland Talent Development Fund 2018-19

Round 1 Now Open

The Screen Queensland (SQ) Talent Development Fund is now open for Round 1 of the 2018/19 financial year.

The SQ Talent Development Fund offers screenwriters up to $15,000 to further develop their feature film and drama series draft screenplays under the guidance of an experienced script editor or creative mentor, and before a producer is attached to the project.

Applications close 5.00pm (AEST), Tuesday 29 January 2019

Who can apply?

Talented, bona fide Queensland writers/writing teams whose project does not have a producer attached.

Projects based on underlying works such as novels, plays or other materials are encouraged to apply, as are writers from other writing disciplines such as novelists and playwrights.

Writers must have an existing draft screenplay for the project requiring development prior to their application unless they are a published writer or commercially-produced playwright using their underlying work as the basis for a screen adaptation.

How much can I apply for?

SQ will fund up to $15,000 (up to $10,000 for writing and up to $5,000 for a script editor or creative mentor/expert). No project will be 100 per cent funded by SQ.

What is the application process?

Applicants will be required to submit a one-pager, screenplay and development plan, indicating what they hope to achieve in this stage of development. Applicants are responsible for attaching their own script editor/mentor.

SQ will consider applications with interstate or international script editors / mentors / experts attached in the case where work requires specialist knowledge (e.g. genre expertise). Due to the anticipated high volume of applications, initial assessments will be made based on the one-pager and the first ten pages of the screenplay.

To apply:

Applicants should read the Talent Development Fund Guidelines and then head to screenqueensland.smartygrants.com.au to submit an application.
