Screen Queensland is pleased to announce the twelve recipients of our $5 million Capital Grants Program, supporting local small-to-medium screen businesses with matched funding to keep pace with increased industry demand. Read more about the program here

Bazmark

The internationally acclaimed production company founded by Australian film icons Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin (Faraway Downs, Moulin Rouge, Romeo+Juliet, The Great Gatsby) first came to the Gold Coast to make worldwide hit Elvis in 2019.  

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

With the support of the Capital Grants Program, Bazmark will now establish their headquarters on the Coast with versatile creative workspaces including purpose-built post-production facilities. 

Club Handy

The Queensland costume specialists for the screen sector led by Liz Perrin has serviced many high-profile films and series including Boy Swallows Universe, Deadloch (Season Two) and Eden.   

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

As demand for costume storage and services for the screen industry continues to grow at a rapid pace, with the support of Screen Queensland’s Capital Grants Program, Club Handy will be relocating their storage facility from Brisbane to the Gold Coast.  

Chrysaor

Gold Coast-based producer Christopher Amos (Hating Peter Tatchell) has established Chrysaor Studio, a new venture providing an affordable, state-of-the-art production hub for independent filmmakers in partnership with VFX company Synctum’s Declan Kindess and Jonny Morfoulis. 

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

With Capital Grants Program funding, Chrysaor Studio will offer local screen practitioners access to facilities including modular LED walls, camera tracking systems, production equipment and editing, sound and colour-grading suites, with training also available.   

Cutting Edge

The acclaimed Queensland sound and picture post-production company (In our Blood, Apples Never Fall, Good Cop/Bad Cop) is expanding its Gold Coast operations to keep pace with increasing demand. 

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

Support from the Capital Grants Program is enabling Cutting Edge to upgrade its existing local editing suite into a full-service post-production studio with upgraded picture and sound facilities.  

Elysium Studios

This new Gold Coast-based venture is focused on virtual production, motion capture, animation and visual effects, and recently worked on upcoming feature film Beast of War at Screen Queensland Studios, Brisbane.  

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

With the Capital Grants Program funding, Elysium Studios will develop a technology toolkit encompassing previsualisation systems, real-time immersive and interactive interfaces for virtual production, motion capture, animation and VFX.  

Fin Design + Effects

Fin Design + Effects is an Australian visual effects and design company founded in 2001 with studios now in Sydney, Melbourne and Ballina. 

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

Following their recent acquisition of Cumulus VFX, Fin is being supported by the Capital Grants Program to establish a new Gold-Coast based, purpose-built operation to service Queensland productions. 

Myriad Studios

The Gold Coast’s specialists in 3D scanning services for filmmaking and games development, Myriad Studios have worked on a wide range of productions including Thirteen Lives, Ticket to Paradise and The Portable Door

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

Myriad will use their Capital Grants Program support to expand their scanning technology which includes Aerial LiDAR scanning, cyberscanning and photogrammetry solutions, as well as their fully self-contained mobile cyberscanning truck. 

Pinnacle Films Studios

Offering four sound stages for both local and international productions, Pinnacle Films Studios has been operating on the Gold Coast since 2021, hosting films and series including The Portable Door, Mortal Kombat 2 and Young Rock. 

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

With the support of the Capital Grants Program, Pinnacle will be able to upgrade their facilities with new, fit-for-purpose air-conditioning systems to provide an enhanced experience for their clients year-round. 

PROXi VP

Led by Guy and Harrison Norris, PROXi VP deliver advanced virtual production and action design for blockbuster films and series. 

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

Capital Grants Program support will enable the company to scale up their cutting-edge virtual production service through asset acquisition, including VFX optical cameras and motion capture equipment and kit.   

SteadiWaves

SteadiWaves provides high end underwater, Steadicam and camera operating services for Australia and Asia. Working across scripted and factual productions, they have recently provided equipment and services to upcoming releases Eden and Dangerous Animals

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

SteadiWaves will use their Capital Grants Program support to purchase more state-of-the-art underwater and Steadicam camera equipment as demand for their services continues to grow.  

The Post Lounge

The renowned Queensland post-production company (Elvis, In Limbo, ScaryGirl) is establishing their first permanent facility on the Gold Coast to provide more end-to-end services for productions filming in the region. 

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

With Capital Grants Program funding, The Post Lounge’s new purpose-built facility will  provide world class post-production across picture, sound and VFX from dailies through to delivery, including a large sound mix theatre and the latest in DI technology. 

 

The Rebel Fleet

New Zealand-based image, digital workflow and post-production company The Rebel Fleet (Boy Swallows Universe) is expanding its footprint to the Gold Coast. 

WHAT WILL SCREEN QUEENSLAND’S FUNDING SUPPORT?

The expansion, supported by the Capital Grants Program, will include the creation of state-of-the-art facilities—featuring high-end suites for dailies and editorial work, along with an advanced on-set equipment rental and testing centre—enhancing on-set and post-production capabilities for films and series.
