Charlie’s Co-Working Hub, Los Angeles

ROLLING INITIATIVE — applications accepted at any time.

In partnership with Australians In Film (AiF), Screen Queensland offers local industry practitioners the opportunity to secure full access to the Charlie’s co-working hub in Los Angeles. Charlie’s is based out of the historic Writer’s Building on The Lot at Formosa and gives Queenslanders the opportunity to network, brainstorm, connect and collaborate with other residents who are creatives from around the world.

Charlie’s provides an intersection point for Australian screen practitioners and the wider international screen industry, creating a softer landing for Australians when they arrive in Los Angeles. The space is also used as a base to meet with Hollywood executives and open doors for further career opportunities.

CHARLIE’S PROJECT REALISED

In Limbo came to fruition during Lucas Taylor’s time as part of the Charlie’s Lab cohort in 2019 where he met with future director of the series, Australian Trent O’Donnell (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, The Good Place, Hacks). This meeting kick-started the series with the pair bringing the story back to Australian shores where it was filmed in Brisbane with local cast and crew. Screen Queensland proudly supported In Limbo from its earliest stages through our Development Fund and through to production through our Screen Finance program. The series is now available to stream on ABC iview.
